AAV™ is FeatherOneʼs core technology a hardware-based airflow system that redefines shoe ventilation from
passive breathability to active air movement powered by each step.
AAV™(Active Air Ventilation)
How AAV™ Works
1. Energy generation while walking: As the user walks or runs, their foot strikes the ground, generating pressure. This creates repetitive load changes during the landing and lift-off phases.
3. Air Intake: External air enters the shoe due to foot movement. This process is not natural diffusion but rather a forced intake due to pressure differences.
5. Air Extraction: At the same time, the hot and humid air accumulated inside is extracted to the outside.
Function-oriented architecture based on an engineering structural design
91% biodegradable, ultralight Hanji is reborn as durable as leather.
A circulation system keeps the inside of the shoe comfortable.
When you walk, the energy generated is used to draw in fresh air, creating an active structure that dissipates heat.
Measured from Inside the Shoe
FeatherOne was tested by comparing temperature and humidity changes
inside the shoe during wear. Rather than focusing only on what is visible
from the outside, we measured the environment where the foot actually stays.
Controlled Comparison Test
Under the same comparison conditions, we measured
inner-shoe temperature and humidity against a reference shoe.
Based on controlled comparison test conditions. Results may vary depending on the wearer, walking pattern, socks, and environment.
The material chosen by FEATHERONE is hanji, a Korean paper that has withstood thousands of years, possessing light yet strong and soft durability.
It is also a sustainable material that returns to nature after use.
Recently, Hanji, as traditional Korean paper, has been reinterpreted as 'Hanji Leather' based on its long-lasting durability and eco-friendly properties,
attracting attention in the fields of fashion and industrial design. It is considered an alternative material that can simultaneously address the ethical issues of animal leather and the environmental burden of synthetic materials.
It is praised for being lightweight, breathable, and possessing antibacterial and deodorizing functions, making it a practical material. Currently, Hanji leather is expanding its application areas to include shoes, clothing, bags, as well as automotive interiors,
interior design, and lifestyle products, evolving from a traditional material into a modern functional material. In an era of rapid consumption and disposal, Hanji
is being reinterpreted as a future material, offering new value through its sustainability for long-term use, its circularity in returning to nature, and the deepening texture it gains over time.

The carefully designed structure allows air to circulate naturally, keeping the inside of the shoe fresh.
We aim for a sustainable structure that returns to nature after use, by using eco-friendly materials that are more than 92% biodegradable.
Responsible Material Choice
FeatherOne selects materials not only for comfort, but also with consideration for how the product is made and used.
The paper mulberry is a representative raw material for making hanji, providing excellent durability and flexibility due to its long and tough fibrous structure.
It has been used for a long time as a core material for traditional Korean hanji due to its eco-friendly properties and excellent fiber strength.
Paper mulberry is the primary raw material used to make traditional Korean hanji. Its long, strong fibers provide exceptional durability and flexibility.
Thanks to its eco-friendly nature and superior fiber strength, it has been the essential material for producing traditional Korean hanji for centuries.
